About OralAdvance™
|
OralAdvance™ is an innovative test designed to
detect early-stage oral cancer. As with all cancers,
finding and treating oral cancer early greatly
improves outcomes. It's a good idea to ask your dentist,
doctor or dental hygienist for an oral exam at least
once a year.
How OralAdvance™ works
-
The dentist notices clinically suspicious lesions
in the oral cavity. Using the soft cyto-brush
included in the OralAdvance™ kit, the
dentist brushes the area to collect a sample.
-
The sample is sent to the Perceptronix Laboratory
in Vancouver for processing and quantitative
cytology assessment. A qualified Perceptronix
pathologist documents findings in a quantitative
cytology report.
-
The completed report is sent to the patient's oral
care provider. Laboratory turn-around time is
approximately 2-3 working days from the time
when laboratory receives the specimen. The
oral care provider alerts the patients of
anything that merits further investigation
is found.
Getting Tested
If you would like to know if you are at risk of
developing oral cancer talk to your dentist or
Medical doctor. OralAdvance™ is not
available for consumer purchase — it is only
available to dentists and medical doctors.
